Do you agree that the FDR of the Great Depression was terrible while the FDR of ww2 was great?

The think FDR was a total failure when it came to the great depression. He spent a ton of money and unemployment never really went down that much. He was the one that started the spending that is destroying our country now.

However i have to say that he organized the US military during ww2 extremely well. I think he did a very good job in handling the war. He was able to build up the UU navy in the pacific and he also started the manhattan project.

If you listed this question where it belongs, in the History category, they’d eat you for breakfast. It’s only in Politics because you want your right-wing opinions certified. Well guess what? The Great Depression was brought on by the policies of Herbert Hoover, a Republican who had no clue how to remedy the problem. Sound familiar? It should.

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn’t go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.

She was very worried but at the same time couldn’t understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn’t let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.

After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I’ve kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I’m still living happily with my girlfriend.

Depression Free Method?

It depends on your prospective.
My parents grew up during the depression..so they idolized FDR
maybe if you had gone through a full blown depression you would have a different opinion of FDR
Of course the Press idolized much of what FDR did at the time..just like the liberal press pandered to the Democrats and President Barack Obama
History will tell us if President Barack Obama is another FDR or worse CARTER?

I agree that Roosevelt did a great job with World War II…if it were not for the help of the USA
the allies would have eventually beat Germany, Japan and Italy but I think there would have been
a lot longer war and the losses of these countries would be staggering

FDR~ was he a con man or a saint? the best thing he did (with the help of congress) was to repeal prohibition!

&quot:He spent a ton of money and unemployment never really went down that much.&quot:

The unemployment rate dropped from 25% to 16% from 1933 to 1938.

Yes, you are right, absolutely terrible.

But seriously, it wouldn’t have been as long if the Fed didn’t keep the money supply so tight.

&quot:He was the one that started the spending that is destroying our country now.&quot:

Spending money on unemployment benefits, social security, and other things doesn’t destroy an economy.

Without SS there would be homeless elderly people on the street, and unemployed people would be on the street.

I like how he handled WW2. It was a real war unlike the ones we have now, which havent been declared by congress.

I completely agree. He was able to mobilize the nation from 3rd world military status to the dominant world power ever since. It is very hard to criticize his leadership during the war.

However, his depression policies were catastrophic failures which are still causing trouble 80 years later.

Nope. An objective evaluation of FDR’s term in office indicates he sucked the entire time.

No the facts don’t bear that out. Republican talking points have you brainwashed.

Both events were planned events and presidents take their orders from international bankers.

FDR was my socialist brother!

Long live the REVOLUTION!!!!!!
