Jehovah s Witnesses: Why is it so important to use the words &quot:…in the Name of Jehovah&quot:…?

All over the New Testament of the NWT Bible while in Acts the Apostles were using in the Name of Jesus more frequently? This may be a long question, so please bear with me, or skip the verses reading if you have the general idea (NIV verses quoted)…

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:6
Then Peter said, Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.

Acts 3:16
By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.

Acts 4:18
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

Acts 5:40
His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

Acts 9:27
But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.

Acts 9:28
So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.

Acts 10:48
So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.

Acts 16:18
She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her! At that moment the spirit left her.

52.Acts 19:13
Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.

Then we see numerous references elsewhere in the New Testament where Jesus is used as The Name (NIV verses quoted)…

1 Corinthians 1:10
[ Divisions in the Church ] I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1 Corinthians 5:4
When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,

1 Corinthians 6:11
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Ephesians 5:20
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

2 Thessalonians 3:6
[ Warning Against Idleness ] In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

1 John 3:23
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

.1 John 5:13
[ Concluding Remarks ] I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

And for the rest of the New Testament of the NWT Bible, all the Lord was replaced with Jehovah where we find the words …in the Name of the Lord and Jesus was not mentioned as a reference to Lord. Only one time in Acts was the words …in the Name of the Lord not replaced with …in the name of Jehovah…

Acts 9:27-28В (NWT) 27 So BarВґnaВ·bas came to his aid and led him to the apostles, and he told them in detail how on the road he had seen the Lord and that he had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus. 28В And he continued with them, walking in and out at Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord:

So if Jesus’ Name was not mentioned in the context as a reference to this Lord in all the New Testament verses, does this automatically render …in the Name of the Lord as …in the Name of Jehovah in the NWT New Testament???

If the Name of Jehovah is important, how often is …in the Name of Jesus OR …in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit used in your congregations and baptism ceremonies??? Are JWs of the Org using Jesus’ Name as frequently as the Apostles in Acts and the rest of the New Testament??? Whose Name in the New Testament is above every other Name that we must confess and bow our knees to???

Philipians 2:9-11
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every

It is the name of Jesus that demons are expelled and Salvation is through the Grace of Jesus.

Jesus prayed to “Our Father” anything else is disrespectful

Jesus is God and the Bible contains the truth.

It would be difficult to explain everything in a short answer.

I would suggest you visit the below website. You will get all the answers, for the below questions and many more.

1) Did Jesus really exist?
2) Is Jesus God?
3)Why should I believe that the Bible is accurate, or the word of God?
4) What is the Holy Trinity?
5)What is so special about Jesus? Why cant I just view him as an ordinary man or a teacher or a prophet? Why should I see him as God?

Ok so Lord and God are titles, like doctor, mister, miss, you. IF you are going to say that you are close personal friends with somebody would it not be acceptable to call them by their name? Same thing at least for me. I still hold Jehovah in very high esteem because he permits me with the privilege of using his name. Now there are different translations of God’s personal name but that doesn’t make them any less relevant. Observe a few verses from the bible Ps 18:3 “On the One to be praised, Jehovah, I shall call, And from my enemies I shall be saved” (Acts 2:21) ”And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.”’ Since we care about our neighbors and people we meet it is important to let others know God has a name.

How is it that JW’s say that they believe in the Bible, when the word “Bible” does not appear in the Bible?

What is one of the main differences when Christians talk to or ask questions of JW’s? Is it not because indoctrinated JW’s have their own vocabulary? When a Christian hears the words “first born,” he thinks of the preeminent one of creation, while a JW thinks of a created being. When a Christian thinks of the trinity described in Gen.1:26, a JW thinks of a three-headed monster out of Egypt or Babylon. If Gen. 1:26 is correct, then any three-headed monsters to follow is a copycat of the original, not the other way around.

The name of Jesus is so glorified in the NT that everything: from salvation (Acts 4:11-12) to healing, to the casting out of devils; all happens through the name of JESUS. Why is that? When the YHWH is brought into the Greek NT, it becomes an idol. You worship the NAME, instead of whom the name represents. That’s how JW’s can pray in the name of Jesus, without ever having a personal relationship with him. JW’s do not believe it is necessary to be born again. It is this idolization of the YHWH (this is why Jesus never used the YHWH when talking [praying] to his Father) that keeps JW’s from seeing or experiencing the power of the NT which only comes by receiving Christ into our very being. (Romans 8:9)

You are starting off on the wrong foot. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not go about saying, “In the name of Jehovah.”

And in our prayers, we always say, “In the name of Jesus.”

Be sure you read Philippians 2 closely, since it answers all your questions.

GOD exalted Jesus. (The action of a superior to a subordinate)

GOD gave Jesus the name above every other name. (The action of a superior to a subordinate)

We confess Jesus as Lord TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.

There is an obvious pattern here.

Everything Jesus has was GIVEN to him by his Father, including his life. (John 6:57)

Every honor Jesus receives is by the leave and will of his Father.

Therefore, as Jesus himself said, “the Father is greater than I.”

Given all that Jesus is, the Father is still his Head, even in heaven.

“God is supreme over Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:3, Good News Bible [TEV], published by the American Bible Society)

We cannot honor the Father without giving Jesus his due. Likewise, we can praise Jesus all we want, but if we fail to honor his Father, we are not really honoring Jesus either. (“In the same way as…” John 5:23, New International Version)

Actually we pray in the name of Jesus, as the Bible says we should. The difference is that we pray to Jehovah, as the Bible says we should. Let me quote one of the scriptures that you did:

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

So we give thanks to God the Father, whose name is Jehovah, and when we do we pray in the name of the Lord Jesus. If you ever were to go to one of our meetings you would hear this for yourself when the prayer is said. What you don’t understand is that Jehovah’s witnesses believe everything that the Bible says, so quoting Bible scriptures to us as an argument against what we nelive is a waste of your time. You are the one who believes things that the Bible doesn’t mention , or teach. Can you show me a scripture in the Bible where the word “Trinity” appears? Then why do you believe it?

There is no”J” in the language…it is a Y…

Should be Yahweh Witnesses if their are going by the true word of God…

The NWT and the NIV have some many mistakes and over 200 verses simply left out that they are absolutely worthless…

stick with the KJV or the NKJV…

I’m confused.

Who sent Jesus?

Who has the authority to send God?

Who made Jesus the Christ?

Who made Jehovah the only true God?

To whose Glory was Jesus exulted?

Who exulted Jesus?

Jesus is named at every meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

How many times is Jehovah’s name mention at your church?

As to the comment about no “J” in Hebrew.

Why don’t people use Iesuos (Greek and latin) or Yeshua (hebrew) for Jesus?

To understand who Jesus and Jehovah are, all you have to do is read God’s word with an open mind and heart.

Stop listening to 4th century pagans who mixed true worship with pagan worship.

I am not a JW yet but I am studying .
I think it is very important to them .
I tend to agree , how can you make Gods name know if you don’t use his name .
The NWT uses it all the time but it was also used in the KJV .
Maybe the pronunciation is wrong , or the spelling but I do not believe a God of love would condemn someone for trying their best.

Lone Dissenter Again quotes the Watchtower without admitting that he is quoting the Watchtower, almost like an old long time Witness.
