I need arguments against the bible for gay marriage. Also, some articles supporting gay marriage would be helpful.
Separation of church and state pretty much kills any religious argument, however I have others. In the same breath it says homosexuality is a sin (in Leviticus) it says eating shelfish is a sin, wearing different types of clothes at the same time is a sin, and planting different kinds of crops next to each other is a sin. Gay marriage does not ‘taint’ marriage. More 50% of heterosexual couples divorce and that is also a sun in the Bible.
‘Marriage should be between a man and a woman.” this was first said because of Christianity but long before Christianity, homosexuals had been getting married.
The Bible was written thousands of years ago. Many of the things in there are no longer applicable. (Such as racism, polygamy, slaves etc.) it was translated many times and contains errors. It was never sai directly by God that homosexuality was a sin. It was written by men who could be wrong.
Arguments against the Bible: it’s ancient mythology and there is barely a word of truth in it.
Religion is not fact.
No laws should be based on religion.
Disagree? Well, maybe we should start stoning non-virginal brides to death like the Bible teaches (and as people used to do)… but that would be morally wrong of course, so we don’t do it.
Morals are more important than b*llshit religious beliefs that some people have.
Separation of Church and State.
If religious organizations choose not to recognise same sex marriage that is fine by me, but if the state is supposed to not be influenced by those organizations and promotes equality then it has no place in restricting marriage to heterosexual couples.
*I guess the issue with the above may be for followers of a religion, how do they reconcile the two?
The Bible’s wrong
it says it’s ok to kill a disobedient child outside the city gates
It says the earth is only 6000 years old
it says a bat is a kind of bird
the Bible condones slavery
how can you take the Bible seriously?
Any form of oppression is wrong.
