Christians, do the laws of…?

the old testament still apply with the advent of the new testament?
And if not, why is Leviticus so often quoted as reason to deny homosexuals equal rights?

The Law still applies:

Matthew 5:17-19 BBE Let there be no thought that I have come to put an end to the law or the prophets. I have not come for destruction, but to make complete. (18) Truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth come to an end, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will in any way be taken from the law, till all things are done. (19) Whoever then goes against the smallest of these laws, teaching men to do the same, will be named least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who keeps the laws, teaching others to keep them, will be named great in the kingdom of heaven.

1 John 5:1-3 ESV Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. (2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. (3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

The problem is not the Bible, it is people thinking that they can apply Biblical precepts to make rules for a carnal God-rejecting society (Not to mention that most have no concept what the Law is and how it applies today). The Law is made for believers, not for unbelievers, to show them how the Almighty expects them to live their lives. For unbelievers, the Law is a witness against their sin, which will be acted upon in due time by the Creator God.

In other words, if you are a homosexual and also claim to be a believer, then that just does not work, scripturally. If you are homosexual and not a believer, then the Law (at this time) has no real effect on you.

Now, that being said, again, applies to the fleshly carnal God-rejecting society we live in today. At some point, when Messiah returns to set up His Kingdom, that Law will be the Law of the land. At some point further on from that, there will be a resurrection to judgement for all who have transgressed the Law and they will be having to give account for themsleves and their sin.

the laws of the old testament still apply .please read Matthew 5 verse 17, 18 do not think that i came to destroy the laws of the prophets ,but to fulfill ,hope you get the answer

No, the new test is clear we are not under the law but are under grace.
And the new test speaks against homosexuality.
Rom. 1:26-27, I Cor. 6:9-10
Also Jesus didn’t speak against child molesters either so…

Peachfuzz: Better check your translation then because the word “homosexuality” wasn’t coined until 1869.

See, the laws of the OT no longer apply, unless if it helps them promote bigotry and hatred. Then it much definitely applies.

No,.

Homosexuality is a lifestyle-not a law!

besides, it is also comdemed in the NT as well, as seen here:

1 Corinthians 6:9
Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,

Don’t like the Old Testament? Fine. Romans 1 (Amplified Bible)
17For in the Gospel a righteousness which God ascribes is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed through the way of faith that arouses to more faith]. As it is written, The man who through faith is just and upright shall live and shall live by faith.18For God’s [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. 19For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them.
20For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], 21Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and [c]godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened. 22Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves]. 23And by them the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God were exchanged for and represented by images, resembling mortal man and birds and beasts and reptiles.
24Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their [own] hearts to sexual impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], 25Because they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever! Amen (so be it). 26For this reason God gave them over and abandoned them to vile affections and degrading passions. For their women exchanged their natural function for an unnatural and abnormal one, 27And the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze (burning out, consumed) with lust for one another–men committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own [d]bodies and personalities the inevitable consequences and penalty of their wrong-doing and going astray, which was [their] fitting retribution.
28And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a base and condemned mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome,
29Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways. [They were] secret backbiters and gossipers, 30Slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents. 31[They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless [and] merciless.
32Though they are fully aware of God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them.
1 Corinthians 6(Amplified Bible) 9Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,
Malachi 3 (Amplified Bible) 6For I am the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.
Hebrews 13 (Amplified Bible) 8Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages).
